Choreographing Black Space in Detroit

  • Lightbox 8641 Linwood Street Detroit, MI, 48206 United States (map)

“Choreographing Black Space in Detroit” is a 5-day movement residency with The Gathering, an intergenerational collective of Black women identified dancers in Detroit, and skeleton architecture, an intergenerational collective of Black womyn and gender nonconforming dance practitioners in NYC. The residency aims to work through questions and strategies to create future worlds, by attending to emergent tools that surface when existing and dancing together.

This public showing is the culmination of collective investigations explored during the residency period.
